The Walled Garden, Baumber, Horncastle, Lincolnshire
Acess from the A158 only between Baumber and Wragby
The Walled Garden Baumber is an innovative and exciting garden, full of hidden surprises and vastly different from the traditional kitchen garden that it once was.
It is owned by designer and photographer couple David and Sonia Elton, who reside in the former head gardeners cottage, with their family.
The Elton's took on the project in 2006 when the house and gardens were totally derelict.
In 2016 the family decided to open the gates to the public on Friday afternoons to see if anyone wanted to come and have a look. They were overwhelmed by the amount of visitors and the positive comments that were made. By May 2017 the former potting shed had become a lovely tea room, a plant sales area was developed and a series of courses and events were added to the calendar. Groups were welcomed to the garden, all of whom enjoyed a guided tour with home made refreshments or sit down meals.
The walled garden will close at the end of September 2017 to allow for a period of further development.
In 2018 free admission will continue, the tearoom menu is set to expand along with the courses available and events.
The garden will also be available for private hire for weddings, birthdays or other celebrations.
